The Role
NVH CAE Engineer responsible for NVH CAE analysis of the full vehicle, subsystems and components. The Engineer will build trimmed body and suspension FEA models for simulation purpose, and perform normal modes, frequency response, and transient analyses to identify issues and resolutions, and will develop design solutions to address NVH issues. The candidate will work closely with vehicle development, the NVH lab, design teams and vendors to identify and resolve issues and optimize the structure for weight/cost, and will perform transfer path analysis to root cause dominant paths and contributions to NVH performance issues.
Responsibilities
• Benchmark competitive powertrains & drivelines, to define functional target and engineering specifications.
• Create proof of concept demonstrations for integrated NVH and performance models.
• Lead the NVH component supply chain definition, design, validation and problem resolution.
• Lead engineering meetings with vehicle integration engineering and vendors.
• Responsible for meeting vehicle development milestones.
• Lead establishing NVH Lab and vehicle field testing
• Analyze data, create reports, give presentations and attend meetings.
• Experience with LMS Test Lab and Head Acoustics Artemis is preferred, but not required.
• Develop and execute tests for analytic model verification to real world results.
• Manage simulation results and alignment with CAD
• Provide input in the creation of component specification, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents where analysis plays a central role.
• Communicate and work with body, vehicle dynamics, and NVH to deliver the best components and system that meets all performance, cost, weight, package, and durability targets.
• Travel Domestically and internationally possible
• Candidate must be highly motivated and interested in hands-on development of vehicles.
• Candidate must be willing to learn on the job, as well as educate new engineers.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited University.
• Strong fundamental knowledge of Vibration Theory and Finite Element Methods NASTRAN, Hypermesh, ANSA, Excel.
• Excellent root cause and problem solving skills in automotive NVH preferred.
• Proficiency in automotive components and vehicle systems preferred.
• Prior expertise in using CAE tools to identify and resolve vehicle NVH issues preferred.
• 3-7 years of working experiences in the area of NVH and CAE for HEV,PHEV and EV.
