Outpatient Neurologist (MD/DO)

Position Summary

The Outpatient Neurologist provides comprehensive neurologic care to patients in an ambulatory setting. This role focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and longitudinal management of acute and chronic neurologic disorders, emphasizing continuity of care, evidence-based treatment, and patient-centered outcomes with limited or no inpatient responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient neurologic consultations and longitudinal follow-up care
  • Evaluate and manage patients with neurologic conditions including headache disorders, epilepsy, stroke follow-up, movement disorders, neuromuscular disease, cognitive disorders, and neuropathy
  • Perform comprehensive neurologic histories and examinations
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
  • Interpret and manage diagnostic studies such as EEG, EMG/NCS, neuroimaging, and laboratory testing as applicable
  • Perform office-based procedures consistent with training and privileges
  • Collaborate with primary care providers and neurology subspecialists for coordinated care
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and disease management
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
  • Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or clinical staff as applicable
  • Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Neurology residency program
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Neurology
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
  • DEA registration or eligibility

  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and diagnostic interpretation
