Belmont Charter Network is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Praxis Core Prep Class Instructor to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program environment that guides and encourages educators who need help with passing their Praxis/PECT Core exams. In accordance with the mission and standards of Belmont Charter Network.

This position will require you to:

  • Prepare aspiring teachers for their exams using Test Prep slideshows and practice tests.
  • Present subject matter and test-taking strategies in a clear and engaging manner, as well as answer students’ questions.
  • Administer practice exams
  • Provide individualized assessment techniques and learning objectives.
  • Cover all sections of the exam, so you must feel comfortable teaching Math, Reading and Writing content.
  • Must also be available via email to respond to questions or concerns regarding the test review.
  • Skilled at working with both small groups and one-to-one instruction as needed.
  • Being responsive to students’ needs while maintaining the necessary pace to cover all the key content in the time allotted.

Required qualifications:

  • PA certification and a Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of five years teaching experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the foundational concepts for Praxis General Education.
  • Interpersonal skills, energy and an enthusiasm for helping students learn are also essential.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Graduate degree. Distinguished academic record.
  • Prior Standardized test scores such as SAT, GRE or MAT may be required to demonstrate capacity to perform well on similar tests.

Common areas of support:

Praxis K-12 Gen-Ed

Hours: Part-time afternoon, evenings and weekends. Available one/two times per month in-house PD session; A minimum of 6 hours of instructional time per week whether in-person or virtual.

Class sizes: Will vary, but will not exceed 10 students per session.

Location: In-person & Virtual The monthly schedule will be created by BCN.

Equipment: BCN will provide a laptop but you must have reliable high-speed

internet connection.

Compensation: $45 - $50/hr.
