Long Wall Company was created in 2025 to accelerate missile defense technology for the U.S. and our allies. Building on the RS1 and GS0 launch systems, Long Wall develops containerized, mass-producible missile defense systems and offers rapid, low-cost flight testing. We believe that the future of global security and stability require defensive technology that is lower cost, higher performing, better tested, and more broadly distributed than is possible today. What we look for
Mission-Driven Problem Solvers. The aerospace frontier demands ingenuity. We want engineers who approach challenges with curiosity, embrace failure as a learning opportunity, and stay focused on delivering the best solution for the mission.

Total Ownership. We seek engineers who take full responsibility for delivering flight-ready work while recognizing that no one succeeds alone. The best engineers make their teammates better, knowing that complementary skills create force multiplication and drive mission success.

Description

As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will lead the development, design, build, and commissioning of power conversion systems at Long Wall to support product tests, operations, and launches. You will have the opportunity to be a key member of a small team of mechanical, fluid, and electrical engineers working to develop innovative deployable launch solutions that enable the rapid deployment of Long Wall launch and test systems. This individual will be responsible for electrical design, test, and integration, from concept to production, while ensuring alignment with strategic business goals. The engineer could also be involved in managing key vendor relationships and ensuring performance and reliability in our cutting-edge launch technologies. This is a role that contributes to every mission and every flight we fly as we continue to reimagine the future of missile defense systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for power conversion activities within your assigned product(s).
  • Develop electrical architecture, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, board bring up and debugging.
  • Partner with software, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing teams and production test teams.
  • Derive engineering justification to resolve production issues throughout assembly, test, and vehicle integration
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field AND 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • or a Master’s degree AND 8 years of experience.
  • or PhD AND 5 years of experience
  • Relevant Experience: working in space, aerospace, or equivalent professional environments with direct hands-on experience developing complex electrical power conversion systems
  • Skills and Experience

  • M.S. from an accredited university in engineering or science
  • 5+ years of electronic product experience designing hardware from concept through production; strong emphasis on full life cycle development of new hardware products and not small incremental updates to legacy hardware.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering specializing in power electronics, switch-mode topologies, and feedback controls.
  • High level of proficiency designing and implementing electrical sizing of motors, cables, circuit protection, VFDs, motor starters, various other motion systems
  • High level of proficiency with designing signal conditioning circuits, digital circuits, and switching power converters, as demonstrated by successful fielding of multiple products
  • High level of proficiency with lab equipment for development testing of circuits and components, including sophisticated test definition, troubleshooting, data collection, and data reduction techniques
  • Self-starter with demonstrated experience on multiple projects making hardware work within demanding time and resource constraints
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience working across engineering groups to define requirements and implement solutions
  • Demonstrated ability utilizing CAD design software (e.g. Altium Designer, NX, Zuken)
  • Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM system
  • Additional Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
