Process Engineer - Spring Lake, MI
DISHER is partnering with a leading custom cable assembly and wire harness manufacturer, to add a a Process Engineer to their team to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new high-reliability wire harness and cable assemblies supporting new product Introduction activities. The Process Engineer will lead continuous improvement of wire harness and cable assembly operations by developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust manufacturing processes, owning tooling and material recommendations, supporting new product introduction through DFM and documentation, and ensuring compliance with key industry standards and customer requirements.

What you will get to do:
Review customer prints and define efficient, high-quality wire harness and cable assembly processesDesign and specify tooling, fixtures, and materials for repeatable, cost-effective productionLead NPI activities including DFM, BOM review, tooling, fixtures, and work instructionsMaintain compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620, AS9100, MIL-STD, and ITAR requirementsSupport quality, root cause analysis, and continuous process improvement in a small-shop environmentCollaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, suppliers, and quoting teamsAssist with electrical testing, EMI/EMC considerations, and high-reliability assembliesUse CAD software for harness routing and formboard supportHeavy focus on new product development with growing responsibility for ongoing process improvement
What will make you successful:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field3+ years experience Ability to read prints and develop efficient wire harness or cable assembly processesExperience with tooling, fixtures, work instructions, and NPI supportWorking knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620, AS9100, and MIL-STD requirements, or ability to quickly learnHands-on, shop-floor–oriented engineer with strong problem-solving skillsCAD experience for harness routing or formboard supportWire harness/cable assembly experience preferredMilitary, defense, or aerospace manufacturing experience preferredExperience in high-mix or contract manufacturing environments preferred
