Title : Product Owner with P&C Insurance domain & Claims Exp

Location: Erie, PA or Piscataway, NJ – Onsite from Day 1

Duration: Long Term

Responsibilities:

• Own and maintain the claims product backlog, ensuring items are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for engineering execution
• Gather and refine requirements through stakeholder interviews, claims flow analysis, and hands-on review of operational scenarios
• Serve as the primary point of contact for Commercial Lines product Claims initiatives. 
• Understands and communicates the product vision, roadmap, and priorities for Commercial Lines products in alignment with the Product Manager and business stakeholders. 
• Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge cases that reflect real claims behavior, not happy paths
• Collaborate with engineering on solution design, tradeoffs, and sequencing
• Participating in SDLC activities including backlog grooming, sprint planning, UAT coordination, and release validation
• Ensure claims functionality aligns with SLAs, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards
• Clearly communicate roadmap progress, risks, and outcomes to internal stakeholders
• Cultivates a product mindset, ensuring team-level understanding and alignment with product strategy throughout development and innovation activities, navigating ambiguity, and embracing change.
• Owns, manages, and regularly prioritizes the user story backlog. Refines features and user stories in collaboration with the Business Analyst.
• Leads demonstration of business value and guides teams through agile ceremonies, program planning, defect remediation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Proactively manages team-level dependencies, adapting delivery plans and communicating impacts as appropriate.
• Collaboratively manages measurement and tracking of outcomes and status reporting at the team level.

Experience

• Demonstrated experience working on claims systems (P&C insurance,)
• Strong understanding of claims
• Comfort working with data (SQL or analytics tools) to validate assumptions and outcomes
• Experience with Bureau reporting and statistical reporting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for explaining complex workflows clearly

Technical Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, SAFe).
• Strong understanding of Claims workflow within P&C insurance specially Commercial Lines
• Proficiency with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence).
• General understanding of software development principles to effectively communicate with the development team and understand their challenges.

Preferred certifications

• CSPO, SAFE POPM
• Any P&C insurance certification and/or claims
