The Production Accountant will calculate finances, work out the cost of a production, communicate with financiers (companies or individuals who provide the funding) and control the cash flow, or spending. Primary job duties and responsibilities will be to:
• Work with Producers and Production Managers to prepare budgets and Estimated Final Cost Reports
• Ensure the production meets all legal requirements and that the company is a legal trading entity
• Oversee all payments, manage payroll, petty cash and foreign currency and keep accurate financial records
• Monitor budgets, analyse spending and provide daily or weekly cost reports
• Produce cost forecasts to evaluate the impact of any production changes
• May also have to manage bank finance and completion guarantors
• Finalise all financial records relating to the production
• May also have to arrange an independent audit
Qualifications and competencies include:
• Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• At least 4 years’ relevant experience
• Proficiency in accountancy, scheduling and finance software
• Strong bookkeeping and accountancy skills
• Knowledge of the processes in film production
• Understanding guild, tax, union and other relevant regulation
• Have strong communication skills
• Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
• Maintaining confidentiality
