Join TOMRA’s team of Product Experts a Project Engineer.

Our Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering engineering solutions for our Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) portfolio. You will be central in supporting strategic and operational initiatives such as new product deployments, upgrades, and process automation. You’ll also contribute to product improvements and provide technical support to ensure reliable performance and compliance.

As a Project Engineer, you’ll be involved in product innovation, process optimisation, and continuous improvement activities. You will also be collaborating across teams, engaging with stakeholders, and proactively addressing technical challenges under the guidance of our senior engineers.

Some of the other duties you may perform include:

  • Develop a working understanding of TOMRA’s product portfolio, including RVM hardware and software.
  • Lead engineering efforts on strategic projects, focusing on safety, uptime, and performance optimisation.
  • Collaborate with other Product Experts and cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for issues involving TOMRA partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the Product Expert team with technical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and solution development.
  • Provide project oversight from inception to implementation, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder alignment.
  • Assist with technical training to internal teams and external partners.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies) to ensure alignment on compliance, safety, and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with TOMRA SAFE Standards and SafeWork guidelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate HSE risks.
  • Actively participate in safety briefings and contribute to continuous improvement in HSE practices.

Qualifications

What makes a good Project Engineer at TOMRA:

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related field).
  • Previous experience in engineering project team environments.
  • Sound understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including integration, testing, and lifecycle support.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX) for mechanical design, prototyping, and documentation (desirable).
  • Proficient in data analytics, leveraging tools such as SQL and Python to identify trends and investigate underlying issues, driving actionable insights.
  • Experience or willingness to learn project scheduling, resource allocation, and basic project management principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Previous hands-on or field experience in engineering, installation, or technical support is valued.
