The Solution Engineer for OpenGov’s Community Operations product serves as a senior technical advisor and strategic partner to local governments seeking to modernize resident-facing services, including permitting, licensing, inspections, code enforcement, GIS-enabled asset management, and public works operations. This role leads complex discovery engagements, and designs technical solutions that help public works departments modernize asset management, streamline operations, and improve service delivery.
Conduct comprehensive technical discovery sessions with municipal stakeholders—including public works directors, engineers, planners, and IT teams—to identify challenges related to asset management, work order processes, infrastructure maintenance, and capital improvement planning.
Design tailored solution proposals demonstrating how OpenGov’s platform supports public works operations through asset inventory and lifecycle management, preventative maintenance planning, service request tracking, and workflow automation for inspections and field operations.
Deliver customized product demonstrations showcasing real-world public works use cases, including asset tracking, work order management, service delivery, and infrastructure planning.
Translate complex public works and operational workflows into clear, scalable technical solutions aligned with municipal infrastructure needs.
Build technical champions within public works, engineering, and operations teams by articulating how modern asset management and maintenance workflows improve efficiency, visibility, and accountability.
Identify and recommend proof-of-concept opportunities focused on asset management, work order optimization, and operational efficiency.
Contribute to RFP/RFQ technical responses with a focus on public works requirements, including asset lifecycle management, maintenance operations, and service delivery workflows.
Partner closely with Professional Services to ensure a seamless transition from sales to deployment, particularly for public works implementations and operational configurations.
Provide structured feedback to Product and R&D teams on public works functionality, including asset management scalability, work order workflows, maintenance operations, and overall platform usability.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required, preferably equivalent to or aligned with Public Administration, Civil Engineering, GIS, Accounting, Community Development, or Urban Planning
5+ years in asset/infrastructure management, GIS, or permitting, or ERP solutions.
Strong ability to learn, understand, and communicate complex technical concepts and develop skills to create compelling solutions that demonstrate business value
Effective presentation and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Civic engagement experience is highly desirable
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Compensation:
$140,000 - $150,000
On target ranges above include base plus a portion of variable compensation that is earned based on company and individual performance.
The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
