The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and strengthening the Quality Management System at Avery Dennison by driving process control, product and supplier quality, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role works cross-functionally with Production, QA, Supply Chain, and Customer teams to ensure products consistently meet Avery Dennison and customer quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with Avery Dennison and customer requirements
• Perform and/or oversee physical and performance testing of apparel based components, including component measurement, wash testing, crocking, color migration, and spectrophotometer color evaluation
• Ensure testing is conducted per approved standards, customer requirements, and internal work instructions
• Track supplier quality performance and prepare regular reporting
• Lead supplier quality system audits and ensure suppliers meet defined quality standards
• Investigate supplier and internal quality issues, ensuring timely containment, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions
• Work with suppliers on process control, quality assurance, testing, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Manage inhouse quality control activities, including disposition of non-conforming components or finished goods.
• Handle customer complaints, verify returns, analyze feedback, root-cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions
• Prepare, update, and maintain quality work instructions (WI), test methods, and quality standards
• Provide quality support for new products, process changes, and project launches
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Textile, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
• 2–5 years of experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance role in a manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience with textile/apparel testing (wash test, crocking, color migration,
spectrophotometer) is strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies (RCA, CAPA, basic SPC)
• Experience working with suppliers and customer-facing quality issues
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to travel up to 10%
Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $67,800 - $90,400 / year.
The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
