This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to an RCM Coding Manager.
What You Will Do
- Accurately code encounters and evaluation and management services in compliance with CPT guidelines.
- Assign appropriate diagnosis codes in accordance with ICD-10-CM standards.
- Properly link CPT and ICD-10 codes to ensure claims accuracy and compliance.
- Append applicable modifiers to CPT codes as required.
- Review Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edits for multiple procedures to ensure coding integrity.
- Verify coding alignment with Local Medical Review Policies (LMRP) and National Coverage Determinations (NCD).
- Research, resolve, and correct coding-related denials and aged claims to support timely reimbursement.
- Participate in departmental and staff meetings to stay informed on updates and best practices.
- Perform additional coding and revenue cycle support tasks as assigned.
What it Takes to Join the Family
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent coding certification required.
- Minimum of two years of medical coding experience preferred. Experience in Radiation Oncology coding or similar experience highly preferred.
- Basic understanding of billing processes and insurance procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and practice management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on accuracy and customer service.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Capacity to perform effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environment.
- Ability to remain seated at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods; must be able to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally.
Compensation for this role is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws. The expected salary range for this position reflects these considerations and may vary accordingly.
