Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an RN Registered Nurse PCU Stepdown for a top Healthcare client.

This high-acuity position requires clinical expertise to deliver continuous, high-quality, and efficient care to patients requiring an intermediate level of monitoring and intervention (Step-Down/Progressive Care Unit). The RN ensures optimal patient safety and outcomes by utilizing strong critical thinking skills to manage complex, at-risk patients in a challenging environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, specialized nursing care and continuous monitoring for an assigned patient population in the PCU/Step-Down environment.
  • Conduct frequent, precise patient assessments and promptly interpret complex physiological data to identify and address changes in clinical status.
  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, and manage advanced therapies necessary for high-acuity patient care.
  • Utilize critical thinking, decisive judgment, and problem-solving skills to manage patient workload and clinical interventions effectively.
  • Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and other care team members to ensure a seamless and coordinated plan of care.
  • Maintain service excellence and good interpersonal communication when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient progress clearly, accurately, and timely in the electronic medical record.

Requirements

Education

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Experience

  • Previous experience in an acute care setting is strongly preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Current Florida State Registered Nurse (RN) license or appropriate compact licensure is required.
  • If holding a compact license, an active FL RN license must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required.

Skills

  • Demonstrated critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow complex verbal instructions accurately.
  • Proficiency in basic personal computer (PC) skills for charting and record maintenance.
