Sword is a leading provider of business technology solutions within the Energy, Public and Finance Sectors, driving transformational change within our clients. We use proven technology, specialist teams and domain expertise to build solid technical foundations across platforms, data, and business applications. We have a passion for using technology to solve business problems, working in partnership with our clients to help in achieving their goals.
About the role:
As a Regulatory Reporting & Compliance Analyst, you will support a major UK energy client in meeting regulatory and compliance obligations by delivering high-quality regulatory reporting, analysis, and documentation. You will work within a regulated environment, focusing on operational compliance processes, data analysis, and structured reporting to ensure regulatory requirements are clearly understood, tracked, and met.
This is a delivery-focused role suited to someone who enjoys working with complex regulatory information, analysing data, and producing clear, accurate reports. You will not be expected to own regulatory frameworks or act as a regulatory authority; instead, you will play a key role in supporting compliance activity across programmes and price control deliverables.
As a Regulatory Reporting & Compliance Analyst, you will:
- Track, review, and summarise regulatory updates, licence conditions, and industry guidance relevant to the energy and utilities sector.
- Support the interpretation of regulatory requirements and contribute to regulatory impact assessments.
- Analyse compliance-related data, trends, incidents, and risk indicators to identify gaps or emerging risks.
- Produce clear, accurate regulatory reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for internal and client stakeholders.
- Support delivery of regulatory reporting obligations, including programme-specific and price control deliverables.
- Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure regulatory documentation is current, consistent, and audit-ready.
- Coordinate inputs from cross-functional teams to support compliance and reporting activity.
- Contribute to audits, reviews, and assurance activities as required.
Requirements
- Experience in a regulatory compliance, regulatory reporting, governance, risk, or audit-related role.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with confidence working with structured datasets.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly in formal regulatory or compliance report writing.
- Experience supporting compliance or regulatory activity within a regulated environment (utilities, energy, infrastructure, or similar).
- High attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach to data and documentation.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence producing structured reports and analysis.
- Ability to interpret regulatory guidance, frameworks, and compliance obligations.
It would be great if you also had:
- Exposure to the UK energy or utilities regulatory environment.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting, price control submissions, or programme-based regulatory deliverables.
- Working knowledge of data and reporting tools such as Power BI or SQL.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance monitoring, or risk assessments.
- Understanding of data governance and data quality standards.
