Camp Buckner is an interdenominational, recreational, faith-based retreat and conference center that offers services to churches, youth groups, businesses and other various ministries. We strive to bring glory to God in all things and provide a Christ centered atmosphere for each one of our guests. As a Retreat Staff, you will play a key role in creating memorable dining experiences for our campers and guests contributing to the overall camp experience, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.
What You’ll Do
- Greet guests upon arrival and ensure they receive room assignments and have everything they need for the entirety of their stay.
- Provide continuous support for retreat leaders and guests throughout the entirety of their stay.
- Break down, clean, and set up meeting facilities for incoming groups, ensuring all spaces are prepared to meet specific guest requirements and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail.
- Lead PRN staff and Summer Staff in hosting duties, including welcoming guests, addressing needs, and ensuring a positive guest experience; facility preparation, such as setting up, breaking down, and cleaning meeting spaces; banquet services, including meal setup and cleanup; and facilitating activities to ensure safety and enjoyment for all participants.
- Perform basic housekeeping, food service, and maintenance duties as needed and requested by guests to ensure their comfort and enjoyment during their stay.
- Facilitate challenge course, archery range, or lifeguarding as required for guests, within your level of training.
- Lead/assist during retreat activities; direct guests to activities throughout the day and participate in the activities as required.
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of meeting facilities on campus. Help ensure equipment/supplies are organized, in good condition, secured, and sufficient.

- Assist in the Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Kitchen departments as required
- Set up, monitor, and assist guests with usage of audio/visual equipment
- Serve and interact with guests during meal times. Assist in the kitchen Banquet Hall as necessary to ensure smooth operation for guests.
- Encourage guests to evaluate their experience on the camp survey. Collect surveys and return to the supervisor at the end of each retreat.
- Plan and facilitate group activities as required.
- Timely meet with supervisor as required for evaluation and accountability.
- Immediately report any accidents or safety concerns to a supervisor. Consult with supervisor as necessary on needs, issues, and incidents.
- Respond to emergency situations in a calm, professional, and appropriate manner within the guidelines and policies of the camp. Report emergency situations immediately to a supervisor.
- Act as a positive role model at all times.
- Work nights and weekends as required to meet business needs.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required.
- Requires a current certification or the willingness to obtain and maintain a Level 1 challenge course certification from an ACCT (Association for Challenge Course Technology) accredited vendor.
- Requires a current certification of the willingness to obtain and maintain certifications in Lifeguarding and Waterfront Skills from a Nationally Recognized Certification Program.
- Requires a current certification or the willingness to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers and Responding to Emergencies: First Aid from a Nationally Recognized Certification Program.
- Requires a current certification or the willingness to obtain and maintain an Archery Instructor Training: Level 1 Certification provided by a certified trainer from USA Archery and the National Field Archery Association.
- Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
- Requires ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and speak in front of large groups; excellent public speaking and presentation skills required.
- Requires ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with staff, vendors, campers, families, church groups, representatives, etc.
- Requires ability to work under pressure and remain flexible as priorities change.
- Requires ability to work under minimal supervision while exercising excellent professional judgement.
- Requires commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
