About the Role: 

We are looking for a Security Design Manager to business partner with Engineering and Operations teams on Data Centre Construction and Upgrade Projects. CDC operates high security environments which must comply with rigorous government security standards and industry best practice, as part of the role the incumbent will work with customers from critical industries to deliver robust and efficient security solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for Basis of Design, Reference Architecture and will lead discussions related to security service integration within our facilities. This role is a blend of Strategy and Execution and the incumbent will be required to switch between Design Manager during detailed design phase to Project Manager during facility commissioning stages.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain security design criteria, standards and specifications for electronic and physical security for both new data centre construction and the fit-out of existing data centre spaces.
  • Produce, review and approve security design packages, and coordinate outcomes with the Development team.
  • Oversee security-related procurement by assisting in the development of specifications, evaluate proposals and advise the development team on product selection.
  • Develop, implement and manage Construction Security Plans and work with Construction Managers to ensure security requirements are met, including on-site security operations, vetting and program hold points.
  • Lead security pre-assessment and perform due diligence risk analysis during pre-construction phase.
  • Lead the security commissioning process for products, verifying witness testing, inspection in accordance with acceptance criteria and defect tracking and rectification.
  • Manage the handover of relevant documentation including as-built drawings, Operating Manuals and
  • training.
  • Coordinate with relevant parties, engage and oversee the certification processes for new data centre builds, including but not limited to SCEC zone certification, AU and NZ Defence Accreditation, Hosting Certification Framework.
  • Provide general subject-matter expertise to the business and Development team to solve security-related issues in the design and construction phases.

About You: 

  • 10+ years demonstrated experience working in a high security construction, preferably associated with the Security Construction Equipment Committee (SCEC) requirements in Australia or the Protective Security Requirements in New Zealand.
  • 5+ years experience developing security design documentation such as electronic security packages, digital surveillance, alarms systems or mechanical locking.
  • Previous experience providing security design advice in construction, working with SCEC consultants, and SEEPL products in large-scale commercial/industrial construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) or the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) or both.
  • In-depth knowledge of Security Construction Planning in accordance with ASIO/NZSIS advice.
  • Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
