Responsible for processing the US and Canada payroll, ensuring the organization’s compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, and preparing the necessary journal entries, monthly reconciliations, monthly/quarterly reports, and other reports/analysis pertaining to payroll

Detailed Job Description

Prepare and process US and Canada payroll for all employees, including validation of all inputs to employee payroll files. Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with Federal, multi-state wage and hour laws.

Maintain accurate record keeping of payroll transaction details and produce periodic payroll reports.

Input payroll journal entry to General Ledger and ensure proper coding of payroll expenses by department.

Prepare all accrued payroll and other accrued benefit plan journal entries as appropriate and prepare related account reconciliations.

Maintain employee paid time off balances in company’s timekeeping software

Complete state applications allowing the Company to do business and collect payroll taxes all states in which we operate/have employees.

Ensure payroll tax compliance, including withholdings, filings, and remittances

Review W-2, 1099, and other employment tax forms

Coordinate with payroll provider and HR team

Monitor business tax compliance, tax calendars and track filing deadlines

Ensure timely and accurate compliance filings and payments.

Support tax audits, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities

Maintain accurate tax documentation and workpapers

Assist with other accounting projects

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

5+ years of accounting experience

Strong Excel skills; ability to work directly with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workday)

High attention to detail and accuracy

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
