Senior Accountant – Construction / Project Accounting
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support daily accounting operations for our growing construction business. This role is ideal for a strong accounting professional who thrives in execution, enjoys building better processes, and wants to be a key contributor in a turnaround and growth environment.
This position reports to the Controller and plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong job cost tracking, and payroll and compliance support.
What You’ll Do
- Support the month-end and year-end close process including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Maintain daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare job cost reports and support project accounting for operations and project management teams
- Assist with payroll processing, review, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Prepare financial statements and management reports for Controller review
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Support audits, tax filings, and external reporting requests
- Identify process improvement opportunities and assist with system enhancements
- Perform special projects assigned in support of business growth and operational improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (required)
- 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience
- Construction, job cost, or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and payroll fundamentals
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting / ERP systems
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- CPA or CPA-track a plus
