Senior Accountant Lead

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant Lead to join their growing agriculture organization. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with leadership over Accounts Payable functions. The Senior Accountant Lead will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving processes, and supporting a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant Lead 

• Oversee and manage the full Accounts Payable (AP) function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
• Supervise and mentor AP staff, providing guidance and support as needed
• Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
• Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting operations
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams
• Support audits and assist with ad hoc financial analysis as needed

Qualifications of the Senior Accountant Lead 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Prior experience overseeing or leading AP functions preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on accounting work
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
