About the Role

They’re expanding the customers' and internal platform, and are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript) to help build the foundation of Renew’s backend and data systems. The role will focus on platform development using Supabase, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks, enabling robust data pipelines, operations automation, and API integrations that support Renew’s growing applications.

You'll have an opportunity to help architect the backend and data foundations of a fast‑growing climate startup and have eligibility for equity participation.

Working hours aligned with EU/UK time zones.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, and extend back‑end systems using Supabase, leveraging database, auth, and edge function capabilities.
Develop and maintain TypeScript‑based APIs and integrations that underpin renew’s platform and data services.
Collaborate with front‑end developers to deliver end‑to‑end features and performant, user‑facing experiences.
Contribute to the evolution of renew’s internal automation tools and data pipeline implementations.
Work closely with product, data, and AI teams on new integrations — from analytics and forecasting to blockchain‑enabled features.
Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability while maintaining lightweight, maintainable systems.

Essential knowledge, skills & experience:

5+ years of professional experience in full‑stack or backend development with strong proficiency in TypeScript.
Practical experience with Supabase.
Solid understanding of API design, database schema design, and serverless architecture patterns.
Ability to contribute across the stack — from backend logic and data modeling to key front‑end integrations.
Experience working independently in agile, distributed teams.

Nice-to-have

Familiarity with AI or ML integrations at the application level.
Knowledge of blockchain, digital asset verification, or sustainability data systems.
Experience with data visualization, analytics tools, or geospatial data.
