About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Category Buyer, Household to join our team and manage the household category. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for food and a deep understanding of the household industry. The Senior Category Buyer, Household will work under the Category Manager to execute merchandising strategies, sourcing products, and building assortments to optimize performance, enhance profitability, and drive growth within the household category. This role involves market analysis, vendor negotiations, and inventory management, while working closely with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Category Strategy Development:
- Work closely with the category manager on executing a comprehensive category strategy that integrates both 1P and 3P offerings.
- Work with Marketplace teams to help identify brand opportunities and to recruit strategic sellers.
1P Product Management:
- Curate a well-balanced 1P product assortment tailored to customer preferences and market trends.
- Manage sourcing, vendor negotiations, and contracts to ensure competitive pricing, optimal margins, and product availability.
- Optimize inventory levels to balance availability and cost efficiency.
3P Marketplace Management:
- Oversee 3P seller inventory and assortment to complement 1P offerings, creating a broader and more cohesive product selection.
- Collaborate with marketplace sellers to align their inventory strategies with category goals.
- Monitor and address 3P performance metrics, ensuring alignment with customer satisfaction and business objectives.
Performance Management:
- Analyze and report on key metrics such as sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead initiatives to drive profitability, optimize costs, and achieve revenue targets across both 1P and 3P channels.
- Collaborate with marketing, supply chain, and technology teams to support category growth and efficiency.
Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all 1P and 3P products meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
- Address compliance and legal issues in collaboration with relevant teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with marketing, logistics, and marketplace teams to align category strategies with overall business goals.
- Support 3P sellers with tools and resources to enhance their offerings and performance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in buying, sourcing, or merchandising within consumer goods or household categories.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Tableau, or similar) to support decision-making and optimize category performance.
- Exceptional product assessment and assortment planning skills, with deep market trend insight to drive category growth.
- Advanced knowledge of procurement systems and processes, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize their use.
- Excellent business acumen, understanding how decisions impact financial performance and strategy.
- Proactive, results-driven, and accountable, with a strong ownership mentality.
- Strong negotiation, relationship-building, analytical, and project management skills.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese/Japanese/Korean is a strong plus; Mandarin fluency is highly preferred

Compensation Range
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $89,000 - $104,500
- This role may be eligible to discretionary bonus, incentives and benefits
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location
