Our Mission:
Driving technology always feels old. Not by a little bit. We believe vehicles can be a thousand times smarter, safer, and more connected to the world around us, and our mission is to see it happen. In 2019, we joined forces with Honda as their first startup acquisition, and now we’re expanding our vision into building the future of electric vehicles (BEV) for millions of people around the world.

Why Drivemode:
Join Drivemode for an exciting startup environment and a vibrant culture that combines impactful work, competitive compensation, and excellent benefits. By becoming a part of our team, you'll contribute to a crucial mission that revolutionizes the way people engage with vehicles, addressing both business needs and the world's environmental challenges. This presents an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation and drive Honda's success in the EV market.

About the Role:
The Senior Data Analyst will be the primary link between our data and our business strategy. You aren't just here to pull data; you are here to tell us what the data means. You will partner with product and business teams, helping to define the hypotheses we should test and questions we should answer through data.
Your mission is to convert complex vehicle telemetry and user behavior data into clear, actionable answers that influence how customers experience our products by enabling data oriented UX improvement prioritization. You enable analytics self-service across the company by designing data models, creating dashboards, reports, and deep-dive analyses.

What You Will Do

  • Insight Delivery: Be the lead investigator on our data. You will take broad business questions and deliver the data-backed answers through deep-dive analysis and reporting.
  • Hypothesis & Strategy: Partner directly with business stakeholders to clarify their needs, challenge assumptions, and define the specific questions that will move the needle on our goals.
  • Dashboarding & Visualization: Design and maintain the "source of truth" dashboards that the company relies on to monitor UX friction and user behavior.
  • Vision & Roadmap: Set the direction for our data analysis initiatives. You will define the milestones for what insights we need to unlock and when, ensuring we are always focused on the highest-value questions.
  • Stakeholder Negotiation: Manage the intake of data requests, negotiate priorities with product managers , and ensure that the business understands the "story" the data is telling.
  • Enablement & Cataloging: To ensure you aren't a bottleneck, you will lead the effort to document our data (data catalog) and set up self-service tools so non-analysts can answer simple questions independently.
  • Expert IC Contribution: this position is fully hands-on. You will be the "go-to" expert for our most complex data queries and analysis.
  • What We Are Looking For

  • The "Analyst" Mindset: 5–8+ years of experience in Data Analysis or Product Analytics. You have a "detective" instinct and won't stop until the data makes sense.
  • Business Acumen: You understand how a business grows. You can translate a vague "we want more users" into a specific analytical project.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional ability to explain data findings to non-technical stakeholders and the confidence to negotiate the roadmap when priorities shift.
  • Data Storytelling: Expert-level skills in data visualization (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Superset, Metabase) and the ability to build a narrative around numbers.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert SQL and proficiency in Python or R for deeper statistical analysis and data manipulation.
  • Experience with Complex Data: Familiarity with imperfect, evolving and high-volume datasets, such as user behavior analytics and vehicle telemetry data. Proven ability to independently and systematically contribute to continuous data quality improvement. Understanding of data modeling (Kimball, Inmon, One Big Table, Data Vault, …) and ability to discuss it is hugely appreciated.
  • Pragmatic Documentation: You understand that a data catalog is only useful if it helps people find answers faster, and you are willing to maintain it to support self-service.
  • Nice to Have

  • Product Analytics Background: Experience with tools like Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar event-tracking platforms, as well as BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
  • AWS Familiarity: Basic knowledge of how to query data within an AWS ecosystem (Athena, Redshift, Iceberg, Trino, etc).
  • Japanese Language Ability: Useful for interacting with local business units and understanding market-specific user behaviors.
  • EEOC Statement
