Title: Sr. Director, Global Market Development - EMEA
The Senior Director of Market Development plays a strategic leadership role in expanding the company’s footprint identifying, developing, and accelerating growth opportunities in new and existing markets in support of EdgeConneX’s global expansion plans. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, working cross-functionally to identify opportunities, understand trends, develop recommendations about, and bring to life market opportunities that align with the company’s growth objectives.
We are looking for a proven, self-starter who will collaborate with Regional leads, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Customer Solutions teams to recommend opportunities to the Executive Team that ensure that the company remains competitive and responsive to changing market dynamics globally. The successful candidate’s efforts will be geared towards creating sustainable growth avenues, enhancing the company’s position, and – ultimately – driving revenue. This position will primarily act as an advisor to the Managing Director, EMEA and report to the SVP, Sales Enablement.
Primary Responsibilities
Go-To-Market Strategies:
Evaluate potential markets and development projects, assessing their feasibility, profitability, and alignment with the company's investment strategy.
- Perform market intelligence analyses in support of identified new markets. Track and analyze market trends in AI-driven compute demand, power procurement, data center supply/demand dynamics, and regulatory development.
- Help define and drive market development strategies.
- Support go-to-market planning for new market entry, including market sizing, site selection dynamics, power availability, competitive positioning, and business case development.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships and relationships with key internal stakeholders. Collaborate with Country Managers, Real Estate, Site Development, Power, Product, Sales, Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and partners to align market development initiatives with company priorities.
- Develop and present executive-level recommendations and updates on market strategy and investment recommendations to Executive leadership and investment committees.
- Drive regular regional coordination and prepare weekly reviews for Managing Director EMEA and Quarterly Regional Strategy Reviews for Executive Team and outside investors.
Management:
- Evaluate and establish efficient processes for communications, coordinating, and reporting on all development projects in Region -- evaluating and optimizing these processes to ensure that they are streamlined, standardized, and scalable.
- Define project scope and objectives in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Identify key deliverables, milestones, and tasks to be completed.
- Manage large funding requests within the Region.
- Ensure that approved projects are executed as planned.
- Keep track of and report on progress towards key Condition Precedents and project deliverables (e.g., permit, power, construction) and associated risks to agreed-upon schedules, budgets, customer commitments.
- Track the performance of development projects against key metrics, providing regular updates to Executive management and other stakeholders.
- Support and manage development of automated information sources that help Exec team keep informed real-time on individual projects (status / completed activities / schedules / budgets / risks / decisions / etc.), sort through priorities, prepare proactively for upcoming decisions, and identify key issues for discussion.
Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional teams to ensure proper execution of expansion opportunities for EdgeConneX across the Region -- including the expansion of EdgeConneX’s land/power bank, data center development, and identification of new growth opportunities.
- Recommend and drive initiatives for continuous improvement of the Company’s market development efforts, optimizing processes and adopting best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead multi-disciplinary reviews to complete business cases, identify potential risks to plans, generate mitigation strategies, and drive recommendations.
- Cultivate a culture of disciplined approach to opportunity identification, selection, recommendation, and execution. Help others overcome barriers that can impact change and business growth.

- Experience managing cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization.
- Strong influencing skills — able to drive alignment without direct authority across technical, commercial, and executive teams.
- Data-driven decision maker who balances analysis with pragmatism.
- Builder mentality — comfortable creating structure in ambiguous environments.

Experience/Education
- 15+ years of relevant work experience, preferably associated with Data Center Development, Industrial Construction, or Telecommunication industry.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred).
Travel
- Up to 25% (both domestic and international) with the flexibility to travel on short notice.
