At Auterion, we build a global open-source platform for drones and autonomous robots. In the growing market of autonomous vehicles, we connect high-end open-source software and hardware with enterprise-grade support. Our Zurich-based core engineering team develops the technologies that form the foundation of current and future drone products.
As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will be a member of our interdisciplinary hardware engineering team, driving the design and development of cutting-edge electronics for our next-generation drone platforms. You’ll take ownership of electronic modules such as flight controllers, sensors, and vision systems, leading PCB development from concept to mass production. In close collaboration with the team, you will develop solutions that enable visual navigation, AI-powered 3D mapping, autonomous cargo delivery and swarm coordination.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design, prototype, and validate advanced avionics PCBs, sensors, and electronic modules for drone platforms, driving concepts from initial ideation through detailed design and manufacturing readiness
- Plan and execute comprehensive PCB and product verification activities, including test strategy definition, execution, and documentation; perform electrical and mechanical validation such as EMI/EMC compliance testing, thermal cycling, mechanical shock testing, and HALT analysis
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design concepts, schematics and CAD drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and repair manuals
- Collaborate closely with test engineering, manufacturing, and production teams to ensure smooth transition of hardware designs from development to volume production
- Work with customer success teams to define hardware requirements, align system architecture and interfaces, and incorporate feedback from field deployments into design improvements
- Coach and mentor junior engineers, contributing to technical excellence and best-practice development within the team
