This position supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Engineering and Technical Support (RETS) program. This position provides expert-level systems engineering support for complex DoD problems including mission engineering, systems engineering, kill chain analysis, and advanced technology assessment across multiple domains and warfare areas.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the planning and execution of complex mission and systems analysis efforts
• Develop expert system solutions to complex and challenging DoD problems
• Conduct advanced systems engineering tasks including technology analysis and assessment, system definition, and systems analysis
• Develop systems architecture and architecture products for systems of systems (SoS)
• Perform kill chain analysis and SE tradespace analysis to define capability gaps
• Lead modeling and simulation activities for mission improvement
• Provide logistics support analysis for Department of Defense systems
• Serve as technical authority and provide expert advice to senior government personnel
• Interface with Joint Staff, Services, and warfighters to coordinate engineering and analysis needs
• Lead technical teams and mentor junior engineering staff
• Develop and present technical briefings and reports to senior leadership
• Support acquisition milestone reviews and technical risk assessments
• Requires a minimum TS/SCI clearance
• Master's degree in Engineering required (PhD desired)
• Minimum 20 years of relevant engineering experience
• Pentagon and OUSD(R&E) experience strongly preferred
• Expert credentials or recognized authority in technical field
• Experience as chief engineer or lead systems engineer for major defense acquisition programs highly desired
• Demonstrated experience leading complex technical teams and projects
• Strong expertise in systems engineering methodologies and tools
• Experience with DoD acquisition processes and technical reviews
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to advise senior government personnel and make technical recommendations
• Experience with classified systems and programs up to TS/SCI levels
