Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Executive Assistant is primarily responsible for the organization and prioritization of the CTO’s time and will serve as a liaison between internal and external partners, executive leadership, and key stakeholders.
The successful candidate understands the complexities of a fast-moving, highly technical organization and brings a holistic perspective to coordinating and prioritizing work in alignment with business and engineering needs.
This position requires an experienced, intellectually curious, and strategically minded professional with meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, and strong follow-through.
What to expect:
Key Outcomes for this Role:
Through clear, concise, and proactive communication, ensure the CTO is aligned and focused on the highest-impact priorities.
Provide strategic and operational support to the CTO, helping coordinate complex initiatives and ensure alignment across engineering, product, and business partners.
Partner with the CTO to proactively identify trade-offs, decision points, and escalation paths, helping ensure focus on the highest-leverage technical and organizational priorities.
Establish a strong balance of approachability and professionalism, enabling effective communication and trust at all levels.
Collaborate closely with the Engineering Operations team to reinforce operating rhythms, leadership norms, and mechanisms that drive clarity, accountability, and execution across the Technology organization.
Calendar, email, travel arrangements and time management
Align closely with the CTO on priorities and working preferences, ensuring time is managed effectively to focus on the highest priority initiatives.
Ensure the CTO is in close coordination with members of the executive and technology leadership teams by understanding cross-functional priorities and synthesizing those needs across calendars, planning cycles, and the broader corporate calendar.
Organize and optimize the CTO’s Google Calendar to create a structured, intentional operating rhythm that enables maximum effectiveness.
Assemble appropriate materials to prepare the CTO for meetings, including briefings for executive, board, investor, customer, and internal technology reviews. Ensure agendas are clearly documented, action items are tracked, and follow-ups are completed.
Arrange complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compile documents for travel-related meetings.
Organizational Awareness and Relationship Development
Develop strong, professional relationships with customers, partners, board members, their assistants, and employees across the organization.
Maintain a strong awareness of the pulse of the organization, including an informed understanding of the Technology organization’s structure, core technical domains, and the roles and responsibilities of its leaders, in order to anticipate needs, surface risks, and support effective decision-making for the CTO.
What we're looking for:
Experience & Environment
8+ years of recent, full-time administrative or executive support experience, reporting to senior executives, including C-level or equivalent leaders.
Experience supporting executives in fast-paced environments, preferably within technology, product, or engineering organizations.
Experience working within a technology organization with sufficient technical depth to understand core technical domains, organizational structure, and the roles and responsibilities of engineering and technology leaders.
Executive Partnership & Judgment
Comfortable managing highly complex calendars and priorities for senior executives, with strong judgment around time, focus, and trade-offs.
Independent and self-directed, able to work with minimal direction and exercise sound judgment when making time-sensitive decisions.
Highly trustworthy, with impeccable discretion and experience handling sensitive company, customer, and personal information.
Organization, Execution & Problem Solving
Highly organized and efficient, with a demonstrated, innate attention to detail.
Proven ability to drive projects forward while simultaneously multitasking in an environment with shifting and competing priorities.
Strong problem solver who proactively identifies issues and drives thoughtful, efficient solutions.
Technical Aptitude & Tools
Quick learner with a natural “knack” for technology; able to pick up new systems and tools quickly and adapt on the go.
Highly proficient in a variety of applications including Zoom, Slack, and Notion; particularly strong in Google Workspace, including Google Calendar and Google Docs.
Collaboration & Team Mindset
A reliable teammate who thrives in a team environment, is willing to support others, and can also work effectively independently.
Flexible in terms of responsibilities and responsiveness, with a positive “can-do” attitude and strong alignment with 1Password culture.
Communication & Representation
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - poised, professional, and articulate, as you will represent the personal “brand” of the CTO to a wide range of internal and external partners.

USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $127,000 USD and $184,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $106,000 CAD and $154,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
