The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for providing insightful financial information to support business decision making. This role will partner with the business and act as an expert in understanding the drivers of the business in leading a culture of accountability for results. The SFA will work with a high level of independence, identifying opportunities and creating/implementing solutions.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
- Overall P&L for area of responsibility (e.g. Retail or Online)
- Net Margin, Category Contribution, EBITDA, Net Income, NMROI (Net Margin Return on Investment) for areas of partnership (i.e. Retail or Online P&L)
- Expense and overhead ratios
- Forecasting and budgeting accuracy
- Business case accuracy
- Quality and timeliness of work
- Value created in business areas through business partner feedback
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
- Partner with leaders in the business to drive business insights that lead to sound financial decisions
- Provide financial expertise to other functional areas of the organization by understanding the ins and outs of their business
- Strong financial modelling skills and ability to translate a business problem into a model in multiple ways; contribute to the innovation of current financial models
- Build new financial models; can work through assumptions, make linkages between model results and provide insights independently to recommend to business owners
- Generate financial analysis and insights to support business cases or post evaluations of initiatives
- Lead the financial budgeting and forecasting processes for business units
- Work with business unit management to review & challenge assumptions by having a full understanding of business unit drivers and historical trends
- Ensure budgets and forecasts are aligned with corporate strategy
- Assist in developing and implementing opportunities to improve and streamline business processes
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and recommendations to management
- Conduct analytics and provide executive-level insight
- Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes
- Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs
- Embrace and seek out technology that creates high-tech and high-touch solutions for Indigo’s customers
- Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them

Qualifications
Work Experience / Education / Certifications
- University degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred
- CPA considered an asset
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
Competencies / Skills / Attributes
- Strategic thinker/business minded
- Exposure to the areas of financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting, variance analysis
- Exceptional skills in Excel and PowerPoint
- Retail industry experience an asset
