Job Responsibilities

Kubernetes & Container Platform Leadership:

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain enterprise-scale Kubernetes clusters with 99.9%+ uptime in mission-critical production environments

  • Lead containerization initiatives using Docker and advanced container orchestration strategies

  • Design and optimize sophisticated CI/CD pipelines with multi-environment deployment strategies and zero-downtime releases

  • Drive Kubernetes best practices across development teams and establish container governance standards

Advanced Infrastructure & Service Management:

  • Implement and manage service mesh architectures (Istio/Linkerd) for comprehensive microservices governance and observability

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex Kubernetes cluster troubleshooting and containerized application issues

  • Develop and enforce robust cluster security policies, RBAC configurations, and container security scanning protocols

  • Execute cost optimization strategies for Kubernetes workloads and container resource allocation

Technology Innovation & Platform Evolution:

  • Stay at the forefront of cloud-native technologies including Service Mesh, Serverless computing, and emerging Kubernetes ecosystem tools

  • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge containerization technologies to enhance platform capabilities

  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new Kubernetes features and container runtime technologies

Requirements

Core Kubernetes & Docker Expertise (Non-Negotiable):

  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes production experience with demonstrated expertise in cluster architecture, networking, and storage

  • Expert-level Docker containerization skills including multi-stage builds, image optimization, and container security hardening

  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals: etcd, kube-apiserver, scheduler, controller-manager, and kubelet operations

  • Production-grade experience managing Kubernetes clusters serving high-traffic applications with complex workload requirements

Technical Foundation:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

  • Minimum 4+ years in cloud-native/containerization environments with progressive responsibility

  • Advanced proficiency in Go (Golang) for Kubernetes operator development and custom resource creation

  • Strong scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, and YAML for automation and infrastructure as code

Kubernetes Ecosystem Mastery:

  • Extensive experience with Kubernetes-native monitoring and observability stack: Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Tempo, Loki

  • Proven expertise in service mesh technologies (Istio preferred) for traffic management and security policies

  • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes networking: CNI plugins, ingress controllers, network policies, and service discovery

  • Experience with Kubernetes storage solutions: persistent volumes, storage classes, and stateful application management

Enterprise Container Operations:

  • Demonstrated success in containerizing and orchestrating complex applications: MySQL clusters, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and distributed systems

  • Expertise in DevOps methodologies including GitOps, infrastructure as code (Terraform/Helm), and automated testing pipelines

  • Hands-on experience with major cloud Kubernetes services: EKS (AWS), AKS (Azure), GKE (Google Cloud)

  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills for performance optimization, resource tuning, and incident response

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced Certifications & Expertise:

  • Kubernetes certifications strongly preferred: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)

  • Cloud platform certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect

  • Service Mesh expertise: Production experience with Istio, Linkerd, or Consul Connect

  • Serverless container experience: Knative, AWS Fargate, or Azure Container Instances

Leadership & Scale Experience:

  • Experience managing large-scale Kubernetes clusters (500+ nodes, 1000+ pods)

  • Track record of leading container migration projects from legacy infrastructure

  • Open source contributions to Kubernetes ecosystem projects or CNCF initiatives

  • Experience mentoring teams on Kubernetes adoption and container best practices

Specialized Skills:

  • Multi-cluster management and federation experience

  • Advanced Kubernetes security implementations including Pod Security Standards and admission controllers

  • Experience with emerging technologies: WebAssembly (WASM) containers, confidential computing, or edge Kubernetes deployments
