About Until
Until is a moonshot company building a “pause button” for biology. Our near-term focus is organ-scale reversible cryopreservation: preserving donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation, then rewarming them uniformly for transplant. By solving this grand challenge, we’re laying the foundation for whole-body reversible cryopreservation, giving patients a bridge to future cures.
To achieve our goal, we are assembling an interdisciplinary team to develop perfusion systems, cryoprotectant formulations, and vitrification and rewarming hardware.
We envision a future where no transplantable organ is lost to logistics, and no terminal diagnosis is final because patients can safely wait for future medicine to arrive.
Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Lab Operations Lead to own the day-to-day management and scaling of Until Labs’ research facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring that a large, technically complex laboratory environment operates with high reliability, safety, and throughput.
As Until Labs grows, this role will also play a key role in operationalizing expanded lab facilities, including helping stand up and scale into a new space, ensuring continuity of research and readiness for large-animal and GLP-adjacent work.
Responsibilities
Serve as the operational lead for the move to a new lab facility, in close coordination with leadership, EHS, and external vendors & consultants.Translate experimental and program needs into facility requirements (space, power, ventilation, gas access, drainage, cold rooms, perfusion areas, BSL space).Plan and execute lab move logistics: equipment relocation, reinstallation, requalification, and downtime minimization.Help define lab layout and zoning to support large-organ workflows, animal tissue handling, and clean/dirty separations.Support day-to-day operations for large-animal model work (e.g., porcine).Coordinate with external large-animal facilities, CROs, and veterinary teams to ensure smooth experimental execution.Ensure lab processes are compatible with animal facility constraints, biosafety requirements, and chain-of-custody expectations.Help adapt internal protocols for work originating from or transitioning into large-animal environments.Partner with scientists and engineers to operationalize complex, time-sensitive experiments involving large organs and perfusion systems.Prepare labs, equipment, materials, and personnel for long, high-risk experimental days.Act as a stabilizing operational presence during critical experimental runs.
Qualifications - Required
5+ years of experience in lab operations, research operations, or senior lab management.Direct experience supporting large-animal model research (porcine or similar strongly preferred).Familiarity with large-animal research facilities, workflows, and constraints.Proven ability to support complex biological experiments.Experience operating labs during periods of growth, transition, or relocation.
Qualifications - Strongly Preferred
Experience in standing up move into a new lab or research facility.Exposure to GLP, preclinical, or regulated research environments.Experience working alongside CROs, veterinary teams, or external animal facilities.Comfort with cryo-systems, perfusion systems, pressurized systems, or custom hardware-heavy biology.
