Purpose of the role:

As a servant leader, delight our consultants and customers with valuable software by mentoring, coaching, and empowering multiple agile teams. Grow the people on your team and help them become even more awesome. Attract new software engineers who understand and care about iterative and incremental software development practices. Ensure technical delivery teams are aligned with business stakeholders and product managers to maximize value delivery.

Responsibilities:  

  • Lead by example: a dedication to our purpose, vision, and culture.

  • Help each team member solve challenges, identify priorities, and remove obstacles to their efficiency, effectiveness, and engagement.

  • Diagnose gaps between goals and results (considering the impacts of the individual, team, and company on individual performance) and help create a plan to close those gaps. Clarify the results and timeline required, resources available, and consequences of missing goals. 
  • Provide clarity on responsibilities, processes, and policies. Serve as the first point of contact for all questions and issues pertaining to their role. 
  • Develops & shares a clear vision for the team, communicating courageously.

Time Allocation: On average, you can expect to allocate approximately 2 hours per week, per direct report to this role. This includes direct and indirect time such as 1:1s, planning, meeting support, removing barriers, etc.  

What your day will look like 

You’ll have the flexibility of a start-up and work in a small, autonomous, highly-collaborative team backed by world-class resources and support. From project envisioning through technical feasibility all the way to delivery, you will be a key technical driver and focused on continuously improving our processes. Expect to invest heavily in understanding our business model and ensuring we’re properly leveraging technology to achieve business goals. 

Technologies we use (and you should be familiar with) 

Preferred candidates will have led teams proficient in a variety of technologies including MEAN/MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, Angular/React, Node.js), AWS services, Oracle, Java, Hybris, and Spring. Experience in managing teams utilizing these technologies is highly desirable. 

Other skills you’ll need 

  • Expert understanding of agile software development processes and practices with practical experience in iterative development and evolutionary design 
  • A love of mentoring and being mentored with experience coaching agile teams 
  • A background in TDD software development and architecture with a passion for technology and a history of continuous learning 
  • Experience building and operating microservices, cloud architectures, and successful implementation of continuous delivery practice 
  • Experience building enterprise applications that are Highly Available and meeting operational excellence standards 
  • Experience partnering with product managers and other business stakeholders in successful execution of strategic roadmaps 
  • Tried and tested technical leadership experience, with an ability to build consensus and take ownership of solving problems 

Education & Experience 

  • Minimum 5 years in a technical role as a Software Engineer or Architect 
  • Additional 3-5 years as either a lead engineer/architect or already serving as a Manager (previous Management experience preferred) 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or equivalent preferred 

Compensation and Benefits:

The anticipated salary range for this position starts at $160,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is eligible for performance-based bonus based on individual and company performance.

Pampered Chef currently follows a hybrid schedule at the headquartered office in Addison, IL. The expectation is for employees to be in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week.
