Our client, a market-leading AI assistant and productivity platform driving innovation in communication and productivity, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal in its search for a Senior Product Counsel.

The role will be embedded with two product business units, serving as the primary product legal partner and owning end-to-end legal support for those products, including issue spotting, counseling, and coordination with the broader Legal team.
This role is based in the Bay Area or New York, with the expectation that the attorney will come into the company’s San Francisco, Mountain View or New York headquarters one to two days per week, primarily for collaboration and relationship building. The company offers incentives for employees who choose to work in-office two or more days per week.
Responsibilities Include:
Serve as the go-to legal counsel and partner for multiple teams building the company’s next generation of products and featuresAdvise Product, Design, Marketing, and Engineering stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation through launch and iterationStreamline and simplify legal reviews, serving as an ambassador for practical, business-aligned legal guidanceIdentify and address product, regulatory, privacy, and other legal risks and mitigations, particularly as they relate to AI agents and productsDevelop creative strategies for handling legal issues and build scalable processes that balance innovation and riskMonitor evolving legal and regulatory developments in AI and SaaS and provide guidance to internal stakeholdersDevelop deep expertise in AI-related legal matters, monitor evolving legal and regulatory developments in AI and SaaS, and help propose and advance internal AI legal and policy positionsOwn and manage aspects of the company’s intellectual property portfolioSupport drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial agreements related to product capabilities and IP mattersDevelop and deliver training on relevant legal topicsSupport regulatory engagements, where applicable
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar4-8+ years of relevant legal experience, including a mix of top law firm training and experience at B2B SaaS or technology companiesStrong understanding of product counseling, data privacy, intellectual property, and commercial contractingDemonstrated history of developing a culture of getting to “yes, if…”Comfort with ambiguity and a creative, solutions-oriented approach to complex legal issuesStrong cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to tailor guidance to different audiencesExperience seeing legal functions grow and scale, with strong pattern recognition around best practicesDemonstrated ability to work independently with minimal guidance, manage competing priorities, and thrive in fast-paced, results-driven environmentsA collaborative team player who leads with humility and a healthy sense of humor
The expected base salary range for this position is:
$260,000-$285,000 for candidates with 4-7 years of experience
$275,000 - $300,000 for candidates with 8+ years of experience.
Compensation will include equity. Final compensation will be based on a number of factors including years of relevant experience and geographic location.
