The role
As a Senior QA Engineer at ShiftKey, you will be responsible for ensuring product quality in a fast-paced environment. You will be embedded within an Engineering Squad, working closely with developers and product partners to ensure features are thoroughly tested, reliable, and ready for release.
This role is primarily focused on manual testing, with approximately 20–30% of the work dedicated to test automation. Within this scope, you will not only maintain existing automated tests but also identify gaps, propose improvements, and implement enhancements to the automated test suite. You will own quality outcomes within your squad, contribute to release readiness, and help shape testing practices across the team. You are expected to think beyond test execution and actively influence how quality is built into the product.
Our tech stack: Cypress, JavaScript, Postman, BitBucket (for CI/CD), and PHP on the backend (used for Data Seeding in Test Automation).
Where you’ll work
This role is based in Poland, with a preference for candidates located in or near Warsaw. The team works primarily remotely, with regular in-office collaboration in Warsaw on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. While not mandatory, in-person presence on those days is encouraged to support effective collaboration and team alignment.
What you’ll be doing
Owning quality for features from early requirements through release.
Designing and executing manual tests with a strong focus on risk, coverage, and real user scenarios.
Clarifying expected behavior and edge cases in close collaboration with Product and Engineering.
Working closely with developers to identify, analyze, and resolve defects, ensuring releases meet quality standards.
Developing, maintaining, and extending automated tests to improve test efficiency, reliability, and coverage, primarily at the web and API levels.
Driving continuous improvements in both manual and automated testing practices within the QA team.
Participating in planning, refinement, and other Agile ceremonies to support delivery and release readiness.
Supporting and mentoring less experienced QA engineers through reviews, feedback, and day-to-day collaboration.
What you’ll need
5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with hands-on work in both manual testing and test automation.
Experience designing, executing, and maintaining tests at different levels, including API and UI.
Practical experience with test automation tools and improving existing automated tests.
Good understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test design, coverage, and defect management.
Experience working with version control systems, pull requests, and basic CI/CD concepts.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and support less experienced QA engineers.
