About Longtail

At Longtail, we’re building an intelligent, autonomous decision-streaming platform for airlines. We combine scalable automation, proprietary algorithms, and contextual data to stream millions of real-time decisions directly into airline systems. Our platform lets airlines offer every possible travel product across their network—giving travelers more options on thousands of routes worldwide.

The Role

You’ll join a small, high-trust engineering group working on the systems that power airline decision-making. Part of your work will involve operating safely within a mature, complex codebase; part will involve creating new components and products from scratch on the same platform. You’ll also be among the founding members of our new engineering base in Barcelona, where two of the founders are based. This is a hands-on role with visibility, ownership, and the opportunity to help shape both product and technical culture from the ground up.

In this role, you'll

  • Write clean, secure, well-tested code from scratch and extend existing systems with precision.
  • Deliver new components and features end-to-end—scoping, building, testing, and deploying.
  • Track and analyze how your work behaves in production and improve it proactively.
  • Translate algorithms and business logic into efficient, maintainable implementations.
  • Identify and handle edge cases through careful reasoning and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with product and data teams to turn complex airline problems into technical workflows.
  • Contribute to 0→1 projects within defined scopes—helping prototype and stabilize new capabilities.
  • Participate in reviews, documentation, and peer mentoring.
  • Who You Are

  • 5 + years of experience in distributed, data-intensive systems.
  • Strong ability to turn algorithms or analytical models into production code.
  • Comfortable navigating large, interconnected systems and making safe changes.
  • Thrive in low-bureaucracy, high-autonomy environments.
  • Take full ownership of what you ship—build, monitor, iterate.
  • Solid fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design.
  • Communicative, reliable, and grounded.
  • Why Join Us

You’ll work on complex, high-impact systems that make real decisions in the airline industry. You’ll have autonomy to build, launch, and refine what you create—owning it end to end. You’ll also be part of the early Barcelona engineering nucleus, helping shape the foundation of a new tech base. If you value technical depth, precision, and clear responsibility in a fast-moving environment, you’ll feel at home here.
