Software Engineering Manager
This is an opportunity to be the first engineering manager at a VC funded startup with ambitions to change the world. We're looking for a seasoned developer who has the ability to both write code and manage a small team of high output engineers. Your leadership, communication, and full-stack development skills will be exercised as Scrum Master and technical lead of a cross-functional team. You will ensure that the team is self-organizing, efficient, and continuously improving. More broadly, based on interest, you can help define and champion best practices for the company.
Position is remote, but PST time zone preferred.
Qualifications
- Direct management of a handful of engineers with opportunities to grow
- A supportive management structure with minimal politics where delegation and autonomy are valued (all managers were engineers at one point)
- Ownership of an area of code and ability to set architectural direction
- Ability to ensure the team ships code every two weeks and level up the team to continuous deployment
- Opportunity to shape our development process and code quality
- Daily interaction with technologies such as Ruby on Rails, React, Node.js, CSS, Rspec, Elasticsearch, and SQL
