Build the data infrastructure for robots operating in the real world.
Robotics is moving from research labs into production across factories, warehouses, vehicles, and field deployments. When robots fail, behave unexpectedly, or need to be improved, engineers rely on data to understand what actually happened.
At Foxglove, we build the observability, visualization, and data infrastructure that makes that possible. Our tools are used by robotics and autonomous systems teams to ingest, store, query, replay, and analyze massive volumes of multimodal sensor data from live systems and from production fleets.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Data Infrastructure Solutions Engineer to help customers integrate Foxglove seamlessly into their large-scale data ecosystems. You’ll work closely with engineering teams across a variety of stacks and frameworks to design efficient ingestion and storage workflows, troubleshoot complex performance issues, and ensure reliable data interoperability at scale.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bridging the gap between deep technical systems and real-world customer needs. Your expertise and feedback will directly shape how Foxglove evolves to support data-driven development across the robotics and autonomy ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Technical solution design: Collaborate with customer engineering teams to understand their data architecture and design scalable ingestion, storage, and visualization workflows tailored to their systems and requirements.
Demonstrations and evaluations: Build and deliver technical demos and proof-of-concepts that mirror real-world data pipelines, showcasing how Foxglove integrates with existing infrastructure and tools.
Onboarding and integration: Guide customers from initial setup through production deployment, ensuring seamless data flow between their systems and Foxglove for reliable, high-performance operation.
Problem-solving and troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex data, performance, and interoperability issues during evaluations and early deployments, partnering closely with both customer and internal engineering teams.
Product feedback: Provide structured insights and feature requests to Foxglove’s product team based on direct technical engagement and real-world data infrastructure use cases.
Collaboration with sales: Act as the technical partner during the pre-sales process, translating customer needs into robust, scalable data solutions that demonstrate Foxglove’s value.
What We’re Looking For
8+ years of experience in data infrastructure, systems, or backend engineering, including hands-on work with distributed systems, data pipelines, or observability platforms.
3+ years in a technical customer-facing role such as solutions engineering, sales engineering, or a founder/technical lead position.
Proficiency in Python, Rust, or C++, with the ability to quickly navigate and contribute to diverse codebases.
Familiarity with real-time data streaming, messaging systems, and data visualization tools (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar, Arrow, Grafana, or similar).
Experience with at least one of the top cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Strong systems-thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex data architectures and design scalable, performant integration strategies.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to both engineers and business stakeholders.
Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative startup environments.
Willingness to travel locally, domestically, and occasionally internationally.

Bonus points:
Experience with real-time telemetry, lakehouse formats (Iceberg, Delta, Hudi), or GPU orchestration (Kubernetes + NVIDIA).
Contributions to data infrastructure, distributed systems, or ML open-source projects.
