Grecotel Hotels & Resorts, the leading hotel chain in Greece, is seeking a Sommelier to join its team for the 2026 season. As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for promoting and selling wines to guests, as well as managing the wine bottle inventory. You communicate with the Heads of the Food & Beverage Departments regarding the available wine lists. You inform the F&B Manager about the guests' consumption trends and suggest ways to enhance guest service and increase the hotel’s wine sales. You are also responsible for training, monitoring, and ensuring excellent guest service in relation to wine recommendations (wine pairing), serving, and wine preservation. Additionally, they actively participate in the planning and execution of themed wine-tasting events for the guests with care by following the company’s SOPs. The Sommelier reports to the F&B Manager. Responsibilities

  • Curate an extensive and diverse wine list that complements the culinary offerings
  • Provide wine recommendations to guests, considering their preferences and the menu
  • Guide guests through wine tastings, educating them about different varietals and regions
  • Ensure proper wine storage and manage inventory levels to meet demand
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure proper wine and food pairings
  • Train and educate the service staff on wine knowledge and etiquette
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and developments in the world of wine

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sommelier in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting
  • Extensive knowledge of wine varietals, regions, and production methods
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and personalized wine recommendations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Certification or formal training in wine is preferred
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of additional languages is a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Graduate of WSCP level 2 in wine.
