Special Education Tutor (Grade 10 - Algebra 1 & ELA Support)

About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Victorville, CA

Details:

• In-Person Tutoring in Victorville, CA
• Schedule: 25 hours, 3 times a week for 2 hour sessions
• Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

• Experienced in supporting high school students with autism.
• Skilled in teaching Algebra 1 and ELA at the high school level.
• Familiar with strategies to support executive functioning, language development, and behavior management.
• Patient, calm, structured, and capable of maintaining a predictable learning environment.
• Able to balance firmness and flexibility while engaging students in meaningful learning.
• Capable of designing individualized lesson plans that align with academic goals and test preparation needs. learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide structured instruction in Algebra 1 concepts, including problem-solving, operations, and application of mathematical reasoning.
• Support English Language Arts, including reading comprehension, writing conventions, vocabulary development, and organization of ideas.
• Incorporate strategies to strengthen executive functioning skills, including task initiation, organization, and time management.
• Use visual supports, modeling, and step-by-step instruction to promote understanding and retention.
• Implement consistent routines and positive reinforcement to support focus, engagement, and emotional regulation.
• Address behavioral tendencies, including walking away when frustrated, with patient redirection and clear expectations.
• Integrate the student’s interests—such as computer use and video games—into lessons to encourage motivation.
• Conduct an initial assessment to determine current academic levels and guide lesson planning.
• Collaborate with caregivers to ensure tutoring aligns with academic goals and behavioral strategies.
