Sr. PLC Programmer - Electrical Engineering

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Study and analyze project drawings and technical specifications.
• Understand machine concepts by coordinating with the electrical and design teams.
• Support electrical design activities including wiring details, module selection, and integration.
• Search for reference programs/backup files and update modifications for repeat machines.
• Develop PLC and HMI programs for new machines in alignment with programming standards and guidelines.
• Modify programs for repeat machines and implement source code protection where applicable.
• Provide technical support to customers for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Assist regional engineers and support teams with updates or changes as required.
• Coordinate with the FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) team and incorporate changes identified during testing.
• Liaise with external electrical design teams and communicate updates to internal design teams.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams for program development and modifications.
• Support and train team members; assist colleagues with issue resolution.
• Provide relevant documentation to the documentation team for manual preparation.
• Configure and maintain Ewon remote access systems and backups.
• Ensure timely backup management and version control in the server.
• Participate in project planning, execution monitoring, and time tracking in IFS.
• Understand and implement control philosophy documentation into program logic.
• Manage and monitor workflows of GETs and engineers.
• Work on gantry, robot, G-code programming, and linear drive systems.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of PLC programming across languages such as FB, LAD, SCL, Graph, etc.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical drawings.
• Hands-on experience working with Siemens PLC platforms (TIA Portal, Starter, WinCC, V-Assistant).
• Ability to develop HMI screens and implement scripts for data logging.
• Experience with induction drives, servo drives, stepper drives, and linear drives.
• Knowledge of communication protocols — Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, TCP/TCP-IP.
• Experience with VFD & Servo systems.
• Experience with analog input programming and industrial networking.
• Knowledge of robot programming, G-code, and motion control systems (preferred or willingness to learn).
