Staff Engineer, AI Systems | Bankrate

We are seeking a Staff Agentic Workflow Engineer who will design and scale AI-powered workflows that streamline Bankrate’s processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance how Bankrate will work in the future. This role combines deep technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration, building secure, compliant, and innovative automation solutions that accelerate decision-making, improve customer experiences, and unlock new growth opportunities.

This role is open to remote or hybrid candidates, with hybrid being central to our New York, NY or Charlotte area offices

What You’ll Do:

• AI Workflow Development
  
  
• Architect, design, and implement agentic workflows using state-of-the-art AI and automation frameworks.
• Build integrations with Bankrate’s internal systems, data pipelines, and external APIs.
• Optimize for speed, accuracy, compliance, and cost-efficiency.

• Partner with Compliance, Marketing, and Operations to identify repetitive workflows ripe for automation or enhancement.
• Create frameworks to prioritize, test, and deploy automation solutions systematically.
• Measure ROI, adoption, and efficiency gains across departments.
  
  
• Innovation & Leadership
  
  
• Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies, agent frameworks, and workflow orchestration tools.
• Provide technical mentorship to engineers and analysts working on automation initiatives.
• Champion automation-first thinking across the business.
  
  
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  
  
• Collaborate with Product and Analytics to build feedback loops that continuously improve workflows.
• Work closely with Legal/Compliance to ensure automations meet regulatory requirements.
• Partner with Growth and Content teams to test agent-driven enhancements in marketing and publishing workflows.

What We’re Looking For:

• 7–10+ years in software engineering, data engineering, or AI/ML engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience building agentic workflows, AI-powered automation, or orchestration systems.
• Proven success rapidly implementing automation or system enhancements at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern AI/ML frameworks (LangChain, DSPy, LlamaIndex, etc.).
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools and LLM deployment platforms.
• Knowledge of compliance-sensitive environments and secure automation design.
• Ability to set technical direction for AI/automation initiatives.
• Collaborative mindset with strong stakeholder communication including comfortability influencing executives and non-technical partners.
• Passionate about the AI industry, always on top of the latest technology and trends

Compensation: 

• Cash Compensation Range: $170,000 - $250,000 per year

*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience
