Staff Software Engineer - Sports Experience

About the Role 
 

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to be the founding technical anchor of this team. You’ll set the technical vision, build the first versions of our systems, establish engineering standards and mentor other engineers. If you love turning ambiguity into robust, scalable platforms and want to have outsized impact on both product and engineering culture, this is the role. 
 
What you'll be doing 

• Set the technical direction for sports experience team 

• Design, build and operate our platform  

• Partner with cross functional leadership to define the vision & strategy for the charter 

• Coach & mentor engineers, help with hiring and shape the team’s identity, ways of working, and high bar for engineering excellence

Key skills 

• A minimum of 10 years of hands on experience in a large scale production environment.  

• A track record of turning messy, ambiguous problems into clear architectures and iterative delivery plans.  

• Strong system design skills 

• Hands-on mindset — you ship, measure, iterate. You know when to be scrappy and when to be rigorous.  

• Leadership without authority: you mentor, influence, and raise the bar across teams.  

• Bias for clarity & impact: you frame trade-offs, make decisions and tie work to measurable outcomes.  

• Comfort working across multiple product surfaces (web, native, internal tools) and multi-lingual contexts.  

• Experience building high-quality, highly scalable software and distributed systems.  
    

Bonus points for 

• Betting/gaming industry experience
