We are looking for a System Engineer to join our R&D Smart Energy Systems team. Experience in applied systems engineering, electrical engineering, and system optimization is essential to support the design, integration, and development of energy storage and intelligent system solutions. The position involves hands-on engineering, analytical modeling, and innovative use of AI technologies like neural networks for predictive control and optimization.

Key activities and responsibilities of the role include

  • Participate in the design, testing, and integration of hardware and control systems into larger infrastructures
  • Ensure designs comply with safety, regulatory, and industry standards
  • Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, and user manuals
  • Develop, implement, and validate mathematical and simulation models of electrical and energy storage systems (e.g., batteries, converters, microgrids)
  • Use advanced tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and Python to analyze system performance under different scenarios
  • Assist in the development and integration of machine learning algorithms into system control for optimization of energy flows in commercial and industrial facility operations
  • Apply AI-based optimization techniques to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle management
  • Explore reinforcement learning and adaptive control approaches for real-time decision-making and self-optimizing systems
  • Conduct research into emerging AI/ML techniques for application in energy storage and industrial systems
  • Contribute to technical papers, patents, and innovation projects
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, and manufacturing)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree will be considered an asset
  • A minimum of 4-years of professional experience in system engineering, modelling, or applied AI
  • Hands-on experience of energy storage systems, solar energy systems and grid interactive inverters
  • Knowledge of power electronics, electrical, electronic systems, neural networks and applied AI technologies
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Python and SQL
  • Excellent written and verbal knowledge of English
