This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative professional advisory firm that serves closely held businesses across multiple industries, including automotive retail, construction, manufacturing, and distribution. As a Tax Manager, you will lead complex tax engagements, provide strategic guidance to business owners, and oversee a team of support staff. You will work directly with clients to deliver high-quality tax services, identify opportunities for value-added advisory, and contribute to practice development initiatives. This position offers autonomy, client-facing responsibilities, and the ability to influence the growth and success of both clients and the firm. Ideal candidates are entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and possess deep technical knowledge in accounting and taxation, combined with strong leadership and communication skills.

Accountabilities:

Lead and manage a portfolio of tax engagements, primarily serving automotive dealership clients, as well as other business sectors

Review and provide oversight for federal, state, and multi-state individual and corporate tax returns

Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities for additional services

Mentor, train, and develop team members to foster growth and excellence within the department

Support practice development, including participation in industry conferences, networking events, and speaking engagements

Travel occasionally to industry conferences across the U.S. (typically 3 per year)

Requirements:

Minimum of 7 years of experience preparing and reviewing corporate and individual income tax returns

Active CPA or EA license

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Strong technical knowledge of tax laws, compliance requirements, and accounting principles

Proficiency in project management, including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and research

High attention to detail, integrity, and professional judgment

Excellent leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills

Experience with CCH Axcess Tax and Knowledge Coach is preferred

Familiarity with the automotive retail industry is a plus
