About the role
Q4 is looking for a Team Lead, Data Engineering to guide one of our high-performing data teams. You’ll oversee the design and delivery of high-quality data pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring they meet customer and business requirements. You’ll mentor and develop the data engineering team, fostering strong execution, alignment, and collaboration. This leadership role demands deep technical experience and a people-centered mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and supporting infrastructure
Assemble large and complex datasets that meet functional and technical business requirements
Implement process and infrastructure improvements, including automation, optimization, and redesign for scalability
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SQL, AWS, and big-data technologies
Build data and analytics tools that support insight generation, business performance metrics, and product optimization
Ensure data security, governance, and separation across systems, regions, and teams
Lead a software development team, providing coaching, mentoring, performance management, and technical direction
Guide teams in making and meeting delivery commitments while following established SDLC processes
Identify and drive improvements in the software development lifecycle and engineering practices
Ensure proper documentation, effective onboarding, and clear alignment with strategic priorities
Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and psychological safety within the team
Key Tasks
Report team performance metrics biweekly
Collaborate with product owners to provide estimates for development work
Hold and document weekly 1:1 meetings with team members
Communicate company priorities and strategic updates to the team
Support data transformation, metadata management, dependency tracking, and workload management
Undertake additional tasks as required by leadership and cross-functional partners
Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of data engineering experience, including 3+ years at a senior data engineering levelStrong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, Cassandra)
Experience with AWS services (EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift) and big-data/stream-processing technologies
Hands-on experience building data pipelines, workflow management, and scalable data infrastructure
Strong analytical abilities, including root-cause analysis and working with unstructured datasets
Experience in leading teams, personal development planning, coaching, and performance management
Proven track record managing delivery of projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies
Experience with architecture, software design, requirements analysis, and process improvement
Excellent organizational skills, multitasking ability, and capability to work independently
Strong facilitation, communication, and influencing skills
Demonstrated problem-solving ability and desire to stay current with modern technologies
Understanding of the financial services industry and global capital markets (preferred)
