Hourly Rate: $68.94 per hour plus Superannuation
Based in our brand new modern, purpose-designed Geraldton workshop, this role is responsible for the high-quality rebuild, overhaul, and refurbishment of trucks, trailers, and major mechanical components. The facility is fully equipped with the latest tools, technology, and comfort features, supporting a safe, innovative working environment and a strong focus on preventative maintenance. The Truck Rebuild Technician ensures all work meets manufacturer specifications, quality standards, and statutory requirements to maximise equipment reliability, performance, and long-term asset value.
Primary Responsibilities
Rebuild & Overhaul
- Complete full rebuilds and overhauls of trucks, trailers, and major mechanical components, including engines, transmissions, driveline, brakes, suspension, and related systems.
- Restore components to OEM specification or higher, ensuring all rebuild work meets internal quality standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Perform detailed strip-down, inspection, measurement, assessment, and precision reassembly of mechanical systems.
- Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-tolerance components and recommend appropriate repair, replacement, or rework solutions.
Quality Assurance, Testing & Documentation
- Carry out quality checks at each stage of the rebuild process to ensure consistency and reliability.
- Accurately record measurements, tolerances, inspections, and parts usage in line with quality and compliance requirements.
- Conduct post-rebuild testing to confirm performance, safety, and operational readiness.
- Ensure all rebuild documentation is completed and stored correctly within company systems.
Technical & Diagnostic Capability
- Diagnose faults and assess component condition during strip-down to define rebuild scope and corrective actions.
- Use diagnostic equipment, precision measuring tools, and workshop machinery safely and effectively.
- Undertake minor fabrication or welding tasks as required to support rebuild activities.
Safety & Operational Excellence
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-focused rebuild workspace.
- Comply with all safety procedures, risk assessments, and statutory requirements.
- Support planning and scheduling of rebuild activities to meet operational timelines and cost targets.
- Provide feedback to leadership on component condition trends, failure modes, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Cert III Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic or equivalent trade qualification.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy vehicle componentry and rebuild processes.
- Demonstrated experience in component overhaul, refurbishment or remanufacturing.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, service manuals, and tolerance guidelines.
- Ability to perform accurate measurements using precision tools (micrometers, dial indicators, torque equipment).
- Proficiency with workshop diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet quality and timeline expectations.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- C Class driver’s licence (HR desirable), forklift licence (desirable).
