About the Company

At Greencross Cannington, we lead with care that feels personal. For every pet we see, there’s a family trusting us with something they love. That matters here, and it shapes how we practice, how we communicate, and how we show up for each other.

If you’re already a Vet Director or you’re an experienced Vet Associate ready for the next step, this is a place where your ideas are welcomed, your standards are backed, and your leadership has room to make a real difference.

Why Cannington feels different

We’re a warm, welcoming team who value great medicine and real relationships. We take pride in being the clinic our clients come back to because they feel looked after, not rushed.

You’ll be supported by an experienced Area Manager and Regional Clinical Director, so you can lead with confidence while still staying close to the floor and the medicine.

The lifestyle around you

Cannington is around 12 km south of Perth’s CBD, with easy access to public transport and major roads. It’s a convenient base with plenty nearby, plus green spaces like Canning River Regional Park for the kind of weekends that reset you.

What you’ll do as our Veterinary Director

This is a hands-on leadership role where we’ll trust you to guide the clinic forward, bring your ideas to life, and set the tone for how we care.

  • Set and protect clinical standards, making excellent care the everyday norm

  • Coach and mentor, helping others grow their capability and confidence

  • Create a steady, supportive rhythm across consults, surgery, client communication and team wellbeing

  • Build a clinic environment where clients feel known and pets feel safe

  • Partner with our Greencross network for collaboration, learning, and pathways

Who will thrive here

You’ll fit right in if you:

  • Lead in a calm, practical way, with clear expectations and plenty of encouragement

  • Enjoy uplifting others and helping a team do their best work

  • Bring solid surgical and medical confidence, and you’re always curious to keep learning

  • Communicate with empathy, especially when emotions run high

  • Like taking ownership of outcomes, culture and the way the clinic feels to work in

What we back you with

We want you doing your best clinical and leadership work, not drowning in admin or doing it alone.

  • Bespoke continuing education, including Australia’s largest Veterinary Clinical Conference, workshops, online modules and cross-clinic mentoring

  • Access to VIN, Plumbs, The Vet Vault and other clinical resources

  • Career pathways across our specialist and referral network, including sponsored memberships and scholarships for approved applicants

  • Heidi AI note taking to streamline clinical notes and workflow

  • Flexible working arrangements where possible, built around sustainability

  • AVA membership or annual veterinary registration support (as applicable)

  • Great discounts across Greencross Vets, the Animal Referral and Emergency Network and Petbarn

Relocation and visa support

If you’re relocating, we’ll support your move. Greencross offers visa sponsorship and relocation assistance for you and your family, and Perth’s international connections make travel to and from home far easier than many expect.

Registration requirements

To be eligible, you’ll need a Veterinary Science qualification recognised by the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC) and/or completion of NAVLE, AVE or equivalent pathways.
