The Opportunity
The VP of Data and Business Intelligence position represents a unique opportunity to enhance , evolve and manage Data and Business Intelligence governance, strategy and to implement new technology capabilities to support our clients and internal business units.
This position will be responsible for the support and development of Data and BI solutions. This entails planning and leading large data programs, encompassing data integration, business intelligence outputs and outcomes, enhancing AI and automation capabilities and day to day reporting and insight operations. The candidate will be responsible for leading implementation services across Data and BI engineering, with the objective of building an AI data driven company culture that develops world-class quality data and BI solutions.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the VP of Data and Business Intelligence will be charged with the responsibility of developing and leading the Data teams to become a recognized leader within the sector. In partnership with our experienced Executive management team, this person will have full responsibility for building out data governance frameworks, thought leadership in developing and implementing quality programs and bringing in tangible and quantifiable results using AI and other evolving tools and systems.
This is a hybrid role (based from our office in North Wall Quay, Dublin 1) and reports directly to our CFO.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in developing and delivering against the overall data and business intelligence strategic plan
- Lead the development and delivery of BI dashboards, reports, and analytics tools to support business operations.
- Develop enterprise dashboard and analytics capabilities
- Deliver best in class Data & Business Intelligence application support services
- Work with the Technology and Product Executive teams to outline, implement and continually improve the data application framework roadmap and technology infrastructure that supports the business.
- Manage the BI technology infrastructure, including data warehousing, ETL processes, and reporting tools.
- Improve Data Governance, Data Quality and Controls by managing and delivering accurate, transparent, audit proof data
- Improve service performance, throughput of work and quality of delivered services
- Provide implementation and oversight of data management goals, policies, standards, practices, processes, and technologies.
- Become the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for status reporting to steering committee, executive leadership and business partners on delivery of Data & BI projects and services. Reports may include monthly tracking reports, analysis, metrics, and scorecards that highlight potential issues and identify root causes.
- Develop recommendations for improvement opportunities based on metrics, scorecards and trending reports
- Recommend process changes to the Data steering committee
- Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
- Implement a companywide data education program to improve data literacy at all levels.
- Advocate for a strong data culture by promoting best practices in data usage and decision-making.
- Ensure data investments deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the effectiveness of data initiatives.
- Partner with VPs across departments (Product, Marketing, Finance, Legal) to ensure data needs are identified and met.
- Work closely with the VP of Architecture to align data infrastructure and systems with the company’s strategy.
- Lead and develop a high-performing data team, including data governance professionals and data analysts
- Underpin all of the above responsibilities with a continual process improvement mindset using AI and other automation and efficiency tools.
Requirements
- Master's degree in computer science, Business Analytics, or related field.
- 10 to 15 years of senior management experience in data management, business intelligence, data governance and quality, master data management.
- 5+ years' experience building successful enterprise data warehouse systems.
- Microsoft Data Stack knowledge and experience such as SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, APS alongside other applications (Looker, Tableau, Qlik Sense, Power BI).
- Data management, governance framework knowledge and expertise are required for this position.
- Leadership experience in data and BI governance, standards along with development and operations including the use of AI.
- Experience with Business Intelligence, Enterprise balanced score card, Performance metrics and KPI implementations and standardization
- Knowledge and experience with major industry standard Data Integrations tools
- In depth knowledge and understanding of Enterprise data architecture, data management and operations is needed.
- Experience with data infrastructure, analytics tools, and cloud platforms (GCP).
- Ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrates exceptional communication, leadership, team building and people management abilities
- Accomplished leader who displays the persuasiveness, decisiveness and competitiveness necessary to motivate the team to meet our expectations
- Some travel may be required.
