As part of our growing operations in Athens, we are seeking a highly motivated Waste Management Associate to support waste monitoring, compliance control, and operational supervision activities across our facilities and projects.
This is a field-oriented position requiring regular on-site presence during waste handling operations, inspections, and project activities.
Role Overview:
The Waste Management & Environmental Compliance Associate is responsible for the systematic monitoring, documentation, and control of waste management activities across company facilities and project sites.
The role combines regulatory compliance, operational supervision, and technical reporting, ensuring full traceability of waste streams, adherence to environmental legislation, and smooth coordination between operational teams, transporters, and regulatory authorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Waste Monitoring & Registry Management
- Maintain and update waste management registries in full compliance with national and EU environmental legislation.
- Monitor and verify incoming and outgoing waste streams, ensuring full traceability and alignment between physical quantities and recorded data.
- Ensure proper classification of hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to applicable EWC codes and regulatory requirements.
- Control, review, and archive transport documentation, manifests, weighbridge tickets, and tracking records.
- Monitor storage capacities, timelines, and quantitative balances to ensure regulatory conformity and operational accuracy.
2. Operational Supervision
- Attend and supervise waste receipt, loading, unloading, and dispatch procedures, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
- Participate in site inspections, operational self-checks, and technical autopsies where required.
- Coordinate with facility personnel, transporters, and project teams to ensure smooth and compliant waste flow management.
- Identify deviations, non-conformities, or operational risks and report them appropriately.
- Ensure proper implementation of environmental and HSE procedures during daily operations.
3. Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare technical reports, waste activity summaries, and internal monitoring documentation.
- Draft technical assessments following inspections or operational reviews.
- Support environmental audits and regulatory inspections by organizing and presenting required documentation.
- Monitor compliance with permits, environmental terms, and company HSE policies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of waste management procedures and compliance practices.
Requirements
Professional Experience
- Experience in waste management, environmental services, industrial facilities, or similar operational environments (preferred).
Academic Background & Qualifications
- Degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering,
or
- Degree in Chemical Engineering.
Languages & Technical Capabilities
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel & reporting tools).
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and waste classification principles.
