POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Area Manager oversees 3–6 bakeries and acts as a multi-unit operational leader responsible for profitability, operational consistency, talent development, and brand standards across their region.
This role functions as a field operations strategist and hands-on coach. Area Managers balance data-driven oversight with in-store leadership, ensuring each bakery delivers strong financial performance while maintaining Insomnia’s operational excellence.
Success in this role is measured using the same performance lens as district leadership: revenue growth, labor efficiency, COGS control, EBITDA contribution, and operational scorecards.
Financial & Operational Ownership
Analyze weekly performance scorecards and identify improvement opportunities
Drive revenue growth, labor efficiency, and cost control initiatives
Audit inventory, shrink, and yield performance
Lead P&L reviews and margin improvement strategies
Standardize best practices across all bakeries
Leadership & Talent Development
Recruit, develop, and retain strong BOM and ABOM talent
Maintain succession pipeline for future leaders
Conduct coaching sessions, leadership training, and career development planning
Hold bakery leadership accountable to operational standards
Foster consistent regional culture and employee engagement
Multi-Unit Operations Oversight
Conduct site audits and performance walk-throughs
Ensure SOP execution across bakeries
Coordinate scheduling frameworks and coverage planning
Oversee equipment, maintenance, and capital priorities
Support new bakery openings and operational rollouts
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with corporate teams (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, IT)
Provide field insight into operational programs
Support technology and systems rollouts
Communicate regional performance trends upward
Crisis & Coverage Leadership
Step into bakery leadership during emergencies
Lead root-cause problem solving during operational disruptions
Develop contingency plans for peak periods

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
5+ years restaurant/retail operations leadership
Strong P&L and financial acumen
Experience coaching managers and developing leaders
Ability to travel regionally and provide hands-on support
Operational analytics and problem-solving mindset
