๐Ÿš€ The Job Mission

The Assistant Project Manager โ€“ Marine Logistics reports to the Senior Marine Delivery Lead and is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of marine Abnormal Indivisible Load (AIL) logistics operations across multiple marine facilities, including Bristol Port (S-Shed, Avonmouth) and Combwich Wharf.

You will support the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of marine logistics services for a large nuclear construction project, ensuring operations meet safety, quality, time and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of a critical marine logistics support service for a construction workforce of approximately 7,500

  • Provide technical oversight for the receipt, transportation, storage and load-out of marine AILs

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory and site-specific controls

  • Act as client interface with service partners for the care and maintenance of project cargo exceeding ยฃ1bn in value

  • Develop and implement marine shared-services plans aligned to the project schedule

  • Maintain effective working relationships with service partners and internal stakeholders

  • Monitor competence of contract partner teams and escalate capability shortfalls where required

  • Support procurement activities through development of specifications, policies and procedures

  • Drive early intervention to resolve service delivery issues using a โ€œone teamโ€ approach

Qualifications

๐Ÿ›  Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience

  • Specialist experience in marine port operations with a strong logistics background

  • Proven experience handling waterborne Abnormal Indivisible Loads (AILs)

  • Experience in heavy haulage transport and freight forwarding

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams on large-scale construction projects

  • Budget management experience

  • Experience working in high-security environments

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Desirable

  • Behavioural Safety Programme certification

  • IOSH qualification (or equivalent)

  • Project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM or similar)

  • Experience working under CDM Regulations

  • Experience in highly regulated industries, such as nuclear
