About This Role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate, Market Access Contracting & Pricing to play a critical role in supporting the development, evaluation, and management of payer contracts with the goal of optimizing product access, net revenue, and overall profitability. This position provides essential financial and analytical support during negotiations with commercial, Medicare Part D, and Medicaid payers. This role works closely with cross-functional teams including Market Access account teams, Trade & Distribution, Legal & Regulatory, Government Pricing, and Finance/Gross-to-Net teams to ensure the effectiveness of contract strategies and compliance with all requirements.
This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Contract and Pricing Data Management
- Maintain and validate contract pricing, rebate, and fee structures for a variety of accounts, including commercial, Medicare Part D, government, and institutional partners.
- Support the setup and ongoing maintenance of contracts within contract lifecycle management (CLM) or pricing systems to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Monitor key contract milestones such as effective dates, amendments, waivers, and terminations to ensure precise and timely contract execution.
- Confirm that all contracts comply with approved pricing corridors and governance requirements, upholding internal standards and external regulations.
- Assist in the creation and upkeep of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation to support operational consistency and audit readiness.
Contract Analytics & Financial Modeling
- Regularly review and analyze formulary coverage criteria to ensure compliance and to aid in the optimization of market access strategies, maintaining a comprehensive formulary and coverage database.
- Analyze contract performance by monitoring claim trends, identifying potential opportunities and areas for improvement, and reporting data anomalies or risk flags, such as unexpected utilization or formulary change, to maintain operational integrity.
- Track contract performance against forecasts and access guarantees, analyzing claims and utilization data to assess the effectiveness of contracting strategies.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes for rebates and contract liabilities and maintain a comprehensive payment tracking system to ensure both accuracy and compliance.
- Translate complex data sets into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders who may not have technical backgrounds.
- Support tie-outs and reconciliation activities to guarantee financial accuracy and maintain transparency in reporting.
- Collaborate with third-party service providers for seamless claim processing and detailed analysis, ensuring operational efficiency.
Government Pricing & Compliance Support
- Support the calculation of Government Pricing and validate the accuracy of government pricing data to meet regulatory standards, such as Medicaid Average Manufacturer Price (AMP) and Best Price requirements.
- Identify and analyze pricing trends to provide strategic insights that inform decision-making processes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of regulatory interpretations and assumptions to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
- Work collaboratively with external service providers to guarantee that government pricing reviews are conducted accurately and on schedule.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the data science team to build and maintain robust internal data repositories and tools, supporting efficient operations and effective revenue risk management.
- Collaborate closely with Legal and Regulatory teams to assist with contract drafting, negotiation, and interpretation, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, pricing compliance, and operational execution.
- Work alongside account teams representing PBMs, GPOs, and government payers within Market Access to ensure contract objectives are met.
- Serve as a key liaison with Finance and Gross-to-Net teams on all payment activities as well as forecasting and budgeting efforts.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, data analytics, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Ability to work onsite on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; candidates seeking fully remote roles will not be considered.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to effectively evaluate complex data and identify trends.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, necessary for successful cross-functional collaboration.
- Proficient in data analysis tools and software, demonstrating technical competence in managing and analyzing data sets.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to identifying trends and anomalies, and to ensuring data accuracy and integrity throughout all processes.
Salary & Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000. We encourage candidates of all levels to apply as there may be flexibility on final job title and responsibilities. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
