We are looking for an Automation & Data Engineer to join our Digital Services Department, playing a key role in connecting industrial automation systems with the factory’s digital and data ecosystem.
This position focuses on enabling reliable data generation and integration from shopfloor equipment, supporting digitalization initiatives, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision making across manufacturing operations.
The role combines expertise in industrial automation, data engineering, and digital manufacturing, contributing to the stability and evolution of the factory’s automation and data infrastructure.
Main responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the reliable generation, acquisition, and availability of production data from machines and industrial systems.
- Supporting the integration between shopfloor automation systems and data platforms used for monitoring, analytics, and operational performance management.
- Designing and implementing data pipelines, ETL processes, and orchestration workflows to support manufacturing data use cases.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of data architectures and data warehouse structures related to industrial environments.
- Working with industrial communication protocols to enable secure and reliable machine connectivity and data acquisition.
- Supporting complex troubleshooting and technical investigations, working closely with engineering and maintenance teams during critical situations.
- Contributing to the stability of industrial PCs, automation infrastructure, and shopfloor digital systems.
- Supporting the implementation of cybersecurity best practices in industrial environments.
- Participating in digitalization and innovation projects aimed at improving operational performance, reliability, and data-driven insights.
Due to the transversal nature of the Digital Services department, this role interacts with multiple production and engineering areas across the factory.
Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with industrial automation systems and PLC environments.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, OPC, MQTT, or similar.
- Experience or understanding of ETL processes, data pipeline development, and orchestration tools (e.g., workflow schedulers or pipeline managers).
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and data architecture design is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of industrial monitoring platforms or SCADA environments is valued.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles in industrial systems.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, maintenance, and IT teams.
- Fluent or Native in Portuguese (mandatory).
- Strong English skills, written and spoken (minimum B2).
